Overwhelmed is the best way that I can explain it. I am just overwhelmed with how the Lord is blessing with our project to raise money to purchase land in Bolivia. This past month we had a supporting church give $250 towards the project and another church took up $5000 in their mission’s conference to take us up to $5750 total already. When we started this project one of my concerns was with how this was going to work with the economy the way it is and that many people can barely make ends meet. As you can see the Lord has been teaching me many lessons during this time that have changed my life. Here are three that can make a difference with this project and maybe even in your life:
Prayer can overcome any barrier.
What a sobering thought to know that we have the privilege to approach the God of heaven and know that He hears and answers our prayers. Throughout the Bible we see story after story of men of God that saw the impossible when God answered their prayers. The Bible tells us in James 5:16 “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”. We know we serve the same God that still hears and answers prayer.
God many times uses those with need to meet other people’s needs.
This is a principle that sometimes doesn’t seem logical. Most would think that when someone is in great need that they are the one that need help not the one that can help others but the Bible teaches us otherwise. The widow of Zarephath was a women who had just enough food for one more meal for her and her son and then they were going to die of starvation. When she obeyed Elijah and made food for him first they had enough food to last until the drought was over. We have seen this many times in our lives and ministry and even now words cannot express our gratitude for how the Lord is blessing us.
It’s not the amount that someone gives, but that God takes what we have and blesses it.
As the disciples looked at the great crowd spread before them they had to think, “there is no way we can feed this many people”. Then along comes a little boy with five loaves and two fishes that gave the little that he had and Jesus used it greatly. We realize that the only way our goal will be reached is when God takes the little that we have and blesses it for His kingdom. We are very grateful for the part the each and ever one of you have in helping us reach our goal.
Understanding just these three principles can help us realize that no matter where we are we can have a part in the Lord’s work. There is not a one of us, that can’t pray, and we ask that you continue to pray for this need. Also, it doesn’t matter your economic status if the Lord would have you give, realize that your part can make a difference in helping us reach our goal.
