Yesterday was a holiday here in Bolivia and would be like our Labor Day in the US. Because no one was working (they actually observe holidays here) we planned a “paseo” or trip with the church. We planned a day at a park that is about 45 minutes outside our city. We started out singing and having two guys from the church preach for 10 min. Afterwards we had a time of games and fun and then after lunch we all hiked up to the waterfalls that are there. Each person brought their own lunch plus some extra to share with anyone that didn’t have any. I can promise that no one went without and I think I ended up eating three different times. I got some good exercise during the game time but when we hiked up to the falls I thought I was going to die. It is a pretty tuff hike especially at close to 9,000 feet altitude, but add to that having Titus on my shoulders. I could really feel my age. 🙂 We probably had close to fifty people in all between the teens and adults. This type of activity is very important in our culture and something that the people really enjoy.
