Amazing Opportunity:
Like we mentioned in our last prayer letter the Lord has blessed us with the opportunity to purchase land for our church here in Bolivia. Now we have the great task of raising that amount of money over the next year to be able to pay it off. This seems like an insurmountable task, but we are trusting the Lord and He is already blessing. First our home church has given a special offering of $5000 to get things started, which is a great blessing to us. Also, we have a great opportunity with a special offering that is being given as a match. That is, for everything that is given, it will be matched up to $10,000 between now and the end of September. This is a tremendous opportunity and we could possibly raise up to $20,000 towards paying off the land. We are now down to $65,000 of the $70,000 that we have to raise and ask you to pray that the Lord will continue to supply for this need. Special Visit:
One of the Bible verses that has convicted me more than any other in my life is Matthew 9:37,38. As you travel around the world you can’t help but see the reality of this verse and the tremendous need for laborers. This past month we were able to participate in several activities helping raise up laborers for the mission field. It was held at the Sand Mountain Bible camp in picturesque Trento, Ga. We were able to participate in the OGTC Camp that focuses on reaching the world with the gospel and helping each person find out where they fit in. There were missionaries from all over South America, different parts of Africa, and China. Apart from some activities with sports, boating etc. there were classes throughout the week and preaching, challenging each person to find where they fit in, in missions. There were almost thirty that pledged to give their lives to serve the Lord wherever He wants.
Then, I had the opportunity to teach a class at the Our Generation Training Center. The class was on Personal Evangelism, how to effectively share the gospel with others and lead them to Christ. They have a great group of guys that are really excited about serving the Lord and reaching people with the gospel. The class was from Tuesday through Friday all morning long and then extra work was given to be finished over the next few weeks. They had several assignments one of which was going out and asking questions using a questionnaire that leads to sharing the gospel with them. The response was amazing with most of the people asking for a return visit to better explain salvation.
Teacher Training:
One of the greatest privileges that any of could have is teaching the Word of God. This past month we had a teacher training time with our Sunday School teachers and those interested in teaching. We had 3 classes that lasted for two hours each teaching them how to be better teachers. With this group we hope to be able to have teachers for our current class and also start some new classes dividing up the children in different age groups. We had over twenty that took the class and at the end they received a certificate during our Sunday morning service.
Prayer Requests:
1. Pray for us as we raise the funds to pay off the land over the next year.
2. Pray for the new work we are starting in Quillacollo as we look at starting service on Sundays.
3. Pray for our upcoming youth conference next month.
4. Pray for an area of our city on the south side of town where there are several hundred thousand people.
