Let’s Learn English:
One of the activities that we have had several times now, in our churches here, is to offer English classes to the community. The first time we had classes it was to start our first church and the majority of those that came, at the beginning were from the classes. Well our new church is almost a year old and we decided to have classes again to reach new people in the community. We started out by passing out several thousand invitations, over a period of several weeks and then the last week we did Facebook advertising. For two dollars a day, the add for the English classes went out in a ten mile radius, which is a good part of our city. From day one we had people asking about the classes and had forty to fifty people commenting on the post on Facebook. Well this past week was registration day and our first day of classes. We were excited and nervous to see how many would show up. By the end we had almost sixty people come to the classes and another ten or so that said they couldn’t be there but were going to come the next week. Our goal is to be able to develop relationships with many of them and invite them to church. At the end of the classes we have a graduation that will take place on a Sunday morning during church time. The whole service will be focused on the English graduation and we will be sharing the gospel with those who come. Please pray for those that are attending, that we can see many of them become part of the church.
Preparing to Serve God:
Bible College classes are now in full swing and I am having a great time teaching two different classes, The Book of Acts and Charismatics. Although it is a lot of work preparing to teach, it is interesting to see how both classes go hand in hand and how I am even learning many things. Starting out this year we made some changes in our Bible College with a desire to encourage those studying to seek God’s will for their lives. We have divided the studies into three different tracks, one being a certificate in Bible Studies, another being a certificate in Bible Studies for Women and then a bachelors in Ministerial Studies. The first two can be finished in a year or so and the last is a three year course. I was surprised because we have around four ladies studying and many of the men taking classes only part time signed up for ministerial studies. This means that the requirements and expectations are much greater. Please pray for these men and women as they prepare to serve the Lord.
We have a Need:
In our new church we are about to celebrate our one year anniversary since we started having services where we are. Along with our anniversary service we want to have the Lord’s Supper for the first time. As we have been preparing, I realized that we do not have the set of Lord’s Supper plates. We are using a partial set that someone loaned us but I would like to have a full set for our church with the tray for cups and the tray for the bread. It doesn’t have to be new or even an exact set. If you happen to have a set you are not using, please contact me at ktwbmw73@gmail.com or 336-499-2585.
Prayer Requests:
1. Pray for those that are coming to our English classes as we invite them to church.
2. Pray for those in our Bible College that are preparing to serve God. .
3. Pray for our new church as we seek to reach many people this year.
4. Pray for a pastor’s training class that we will be having this coming month.
