Connected:
In our world today, it seems as if being connected is one of the most important things in life. I can even say that if I am a few hours without internet I begin to get frustrated because it seems as if I can’t get anything done. This “need” to be connected can be seen even more when it comes to teens and adolescents. While I would admit that it is a little hard to not be connected to the internet for a long period of time, there is a connection that we all need desperately, that is much more important, that is our connection or relationship with Jesus Christ. It is very easy for us to get distracted focusing on being connected to everyone else and forget to be connected with the one who gives us life and blessings. This past month we had our anual teen camp and the focus was on being connected, not on the internet, but to the Lord. We had classes in the mornings ending with a service and game and activity time in the afternoon, after lunch. Then we had a longer service at night, with each night having a special focus, like talents etc. Each morning in the class time we taught on how to be connected to the Lord, starting with salvation, their commitment, and finishing with their compasión to be a witness in this world. In my class, I spoke on the excuses we use to not make a decision for the Lord. Afterwards a young girl came to me, almost in tears, and said she wanted to trust Christ. It was one of our best camps with over seventy five attending and many decisiones for the Lord. I pray that you too can stay connected to the Lord in every area of your life.
Thank you for Praying:
This past month I wrote about all the trials that we were facing with our car, my eye etc. I want to thank you for praying for us and the ministry here, and while we are not out of the woods yet, the Lord has been blessing us greatly. I had a small set back with my eye this past month with another small hole in my retina, but the doctor was able to seal it and my vision should begin to improve over the next few months. While I still have a long way to go, I trust the Lord’s will be done and that He will allow my eye to improve as I move forward. With our car, at the beginning we were having a hard time just getting it out of the police station so that the insurance company could evaluate it and start the repairs. Well we finally got the car out and after several weeks of waiting on the insurance company, they decided the car was totaled and beyond repair. This is actually a good thing for us because we shouldn’t have to wait the long process of the car being fixed. As soon as i can get the paper work together, the insurance company should be giving us a check for the value of the car and then we should be able to purchase another one. Even in our ministry, Satan has been fighting hard over the past few months but I trust that we have victory in the Lord. He has even blessed us with the best attendance we have had since starting the church and many people wanting to be more involved in serving. I would like to ask you to continue to pray for my eys, our car situation and our ministry. While the battle is real, we also know that greater is He that is in us than He that is in the world.
