We had a wonderful Sunday yesterday, full of activity and blessings from the Lord. Several weeks ago, one of the men from the church asked me if we could have a special prayer for his daughter, for her first birthday, in the service. We hadn’t planned a baby dedication service yet but we went ahead and opened it up to anyone else that might like to participate. One of the interesting things is that the passage that was next in line for our study in Matthew was Mat 19:13-15 where Jesus prays over the children. It worked out perfect for the baby dedication because we focused on both the opportunity and responsibility that we have as parents to reach and teach our children while they are young. At the end of the service we had two families come forward and we had a special prayer with them for their children. We have also been planning, for some time, a baptism service and time to receive new members. All of them had finished membership classes where we explain both what we believe and what it means to be a member. In all we had four that were baptized and three that became members from another church. We probably had fifteen visitors total and there were over seventy in attendance for the service. It was truly exciting to see the Lord’s blessings and how the church is growing.
