Young at Heart:
This past week we finished up our annual youth conference. This is our third year now and ever one seems to be better than the first. The first night we started off a little slow being Friday night, but still had a good night with almost 100 young people and adults with close to 10 visitors. There was a great spirit and many decisions made for the Lord. The second night we had well over 100 in attendance with almost 15 visitors and three people dealt with about their salvation. It was a real blessing to have Bro. Tony Howeth once again this year. He is always a great blessing and help to us, and to the people of our church. We finished up our youth conference with a great day on Sunday. In the morning, we changed up things a bit having one service that started at 10:00 am and finished a little after 12:00 pm. That night the Lord truly blessed with a great attendance, with around 120 and many decisions for the Lord. The Alter was full and at least three were dealt with about their salvation. We are very grateful to Bro. Tony Howeth for giving of his time and sacrificing to come and be with us. He is a great friend to us and always a great encouragement to us personally and the church. Also, we want to say thanks to David Gardner for coming to translate and several other missionary friends that came over from Peru to be with us. If you would like to have an idea of what it is like to have preaching in two languages just got to our web page at kevinwhite.wordpress.com and scroll down to “Last night of Youth Conference and click on the video. Aside from the youth meeting, we were able to have some meetings with the leaders of the church with Bro. Tony. He encouraged them about being united and staying firm during our furlough. Please pray for those who made decisions that we might be able to follow up with them. Also pray for Pastor Chrisitan Ching as he works with the young people and the church.
Easter Sunday:
This past month the 4th of April when many people were having their Easter Sunday service unfortunately we were at home. We did get to read the Bible about the resurrection of Christ and explain to the girls the real reason for Easter. The government had their local election for Mayor and Governor. Things work a little differently here in that because of a new law the government passed we as foreigners also had to vote. When there are elections it is not optional if you want to vote but required. If you don’t vote you can’t do any type of transaction in the bank or leave the country until you pay a hefty fine. Also, no public meetings are allowed or cars on the road thus we were pretty much stuck at home for the day. We did vote but the elections came out more for the government and the socialist movement. While we don’t get involved with politics as missionaries or a church, it concerns us because they are making things more and more difficult to be here. We trust in the Lord who is in control of things and that He is working it out for His glory. Please pray that we will continue to be able to live and work here taking the gospel to the people of Bolivia.
One year and Counting:
April the 10th was a very special day because one year ago our son Titus was born. He has been so special to us and has so much personality at times that it is surprising. It is also hard to believe that it has been one year since he was born. He has been walking since he was 10 months and now is starting to say a few words. For his birthday we had a few friends over for the celebration. We had a great time and Titus liked his cake a lot. We have a tradition of letting our children eat their cake by themselves on their first birthday. You can probably imagine the results. If you would like to see, go to kevinwhite.wordpress.com and scroll down to “One year and counting”. We pray that the Lord will give him many more years of life and that he will serve the Lord.
Prayer Requests:
- Pray for our upcoming furlough starting in June.
- Pray for the needs we will have getting set up in the states this upcoming month.
- Pray for our church here as we leave and they have to take over responsibilities.
- Pray for the government of Bolivia that the Lord will work in their hearts and lives.
