Known as the George Washington of South America Simón Bolivar was born July 24th 1783 in the city of Caracas Venezuela. He is famous as the liberator of the South American countries of Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia. Not only did the country of Bolivia get its name from him but Bolivar wrote their first constitution which was one of his most important political accomplishments. While others only dreamed about independence Bolivar united a small group of followers to fight for that cause. He had a dream to give people a new life, a better life, a life of liberty and justice. As we think about what this man gave his life for I can’t help but think of a greater cause not that much different from what his dream was. Our dream too is that the people of Bolivia will have a new and a better life, but more importantly a life of true liberty and spiritual freedom. While his weapons of warfare were swords our weapon is the sword of God that is sharp enough to cut right to the soul of man. He thought it an important enough cause to dedicate his entire life to and may we dedicate our lives to taking the message of freedom to the many people in spiritual bondage in Bolivia. Pray that the Lord of the harvest would send forth laborers to the harvest field of Bolivia.
